El surfista californiano Greg Long se llevo todos los honores en la ceremonia de los considerados Oscars del Surf de olas Grandes, los Billabong XXL Awards 2009 que reconocen a las mejores olas surfeadas durante el año…
Greg Long se consagró en la categoría Rider of the year, un panel de mas de 250 jueces votaron la ola que Long surfeo durante el Red Bull Big Wave Africa el 26 de Julio del 2008 en Ciudad del Cabo.
Los premios fueron entregados en el Teatro Grove en Anaheim, de California, y el Rider of the Year embolsó la suma de 50 mil dólares.
